Saudi Arabia's Mobily Debuts Residential WiMAX in Four Cities

Having acquired data communications operator Bayanat back in March 2008, Saudi Arabia's Mobily announced its first broadband maneuver since and introduced prepaid WiMAX services for residential subscribers in four major cities: Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, and Khobar. Mobily's broadband @ home service is currently the kingdom's only prepaid wireless broadband service targeting residential subscribers, according to AME Info.

In related news, Intel has entered into an agreement with STC (Saudi Telecom) and Medina-based KEC (Knowledge Economic City). The collaboration was established with the aim to set up a WiMAX network by 2011, according to WiMax.com.
